Decompose a strategy handed down from above into a hierarchy of aspects and states, audit it for necessity, sufficiency and overlap, and output it as an xlsx. Use before writing your own team's or unit's policy from a company/department/team strategy, when the user wants to break a strategy down into "what state we need to reach", or asks to check whether a decomposition is MECE.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# strategy-decompose — turn an upper strategy into your organization's target states The output is not a policy. It is the **material** a policy is written from: the states your organization has to reach for the upper strategy to hold. Work through phases 1-5 in order. **Do not start a phase until the previous phase's completion criterion is met.** ## Settle the destinations first Before any work, pin down two locations. Ask the owner if either is unclear. - **Where the notes go** — a Markdown home the owner and future sessions read (in a workhub vault: `projects/NNNN-<slug>/dev-notes/`, or the `backlog/` item the decomposition belongs to) - **Where the xlsx goes** — somewhere the owner can actually open it. If the notes live in a vault the owner reads through Obsidian, the xlsx does **not** belong there; put it on their cloud drive Always write to the **AI-owned workbook** (`<name>-draft.xlsx`), never to the owner's (`<name>.xlsx`). How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
