Generate, extend, or audit design tokens in DTCG format with the 3-tier architecture (primitive → semantic → component). Use when the user wants a color palette, type scale, spacing/shadow/radius/motion tokens, multi-brand theming, or wants to validate token files. Covers colors, typography, spacing, shadows, borders, breakpoints, motion, gradients, opacity, blur, sizing, states, theming.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Skill: Design Tokens

Produce and maintain DTCG (`$type`/`$value`) tokens following the project's 3-tier system.
## Steps
1. Read `.claude/rules/tokens-and-color.md` → "Token System" + "Color Guidelines" and `.claude/rules/typography-and-spacing.md` for the rules (4px base, Major Third scale, OKLCH palette generation, dark-mode-at-semantic-layer).
2. Read the relevant existing files in `tokens/` to match structure: `colors.json`, `typography.json`, `spacing.json`, `shadows.json`, `borders.json`, `breakpoints.json`, `motion.json`, `gradients.json`, `opacity.json`, `blur.json`, `sizing.json`, `states.json`, `theming.json`.
3. Generate/extend tokens:
- Primitives = raw values (never used directly). Semantic = purpose aliases. Component = component-scoped.

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
