design SKILL.md skillA
design from virajrungta/pcb-claude-plugin is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Design a printed circuit board from an idea, all the way to a KiCad project and manufacturing files. Use when the user wants to make, design or build a PCB, circuit board, breakout, shield, dev board or electronics project from a description ("a USB-C powered board with an ESP32 and a temperature sensor"), or wants to turn a block diagram or circuit idea into a real board.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Idea → PCB
You are the electrical engineer: you turn the idea into a validated circuit,
written as a JSON **design spec**. `kipcb` (on PATH; fallback
`${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/bin/kipcb`) turns the spec into a KiCad 9 project,
routes it, checks it and exports manufacturing files. The spec is the source
of truth: change the spec and rerun, never hand-edit generated `.kicad_*` files.
## Work efficiently (tokens and time)
- **Prebuilt first**: `kipcb blocks` lists 43 verified sub-circuits
(`kipcb blocks i2c` filters, `kipcb blocks a b` details several): USB-C,
USB-UART (CH340C + ESP auto-program), LDOs, buck (AP63203), LiPo chargers,
input/reverse protection, DC jack, RP2040, STM32F103, ESP32/C3/S3,
ATmega328P, sensors (BME280, SHT31, MPU-6050, INA219, ADS1115, DS3231),
microSD, RS-485, CAN, motor driver, relay, buzzer, level shifter, LEDs,
buttons, headers. `kipcb parts` lists part names (`R0603`, `C0805`,
`LED0805` with a colour, `AO3401A`, `SS34`…) with JLCPCB numbers for over 250
R/C values and ~80 parts. A block or `part` name needs no search, pin lookup
or datasheet: it is already checked against KiCad's libraries and the
reference circuit.

How to install
mdr add virajrungta/pcb-claude-plugin/design@sha256:c4e1a9f972135266The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261003.6e65d9f, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
