Shared commit message rules and technical constraints for skills that write commits. Not typically invoked directly.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Commit Rules ## Commit Message Rules - Match the style from `git log -n 10 --oneline` - Concise and descriptive - Imperative mood, present tense - Aim for ≤100 characters in the subject - No commit description—summarize everything in the message - Don't reference `.turbo/` content (filenames, acceptance criteria, step numbers, headings) in commit messages. `.turbo/` is gitignored, so these references would be opaque to anyone reading without local copies. ## Technical Constraints - Use `git commit -m "message"` directly—do not use heredoc syntax (sandbox blocks temp file creation) - Never bypass commit signing (`--no-gpg-sign`, `-c commit.gpgsign=false`). If signing fails, use `request_user_input` to let the user resolve it—they may need to approve a key prompt.

How to install
mdr add tobihagemann/turbo/commit-rules@sha256:3e2fcbd494945777The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260927.8a693f4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
