# Web Performance Audit Audit the user experience of a running web application from first principles. Measure real journeys, explain only what the evidence supports, record negative results and blind spots, recommend next actions, restore the page, and stop before code changes unless the user separately authorizes implementation. ## Non-negotiable rules 1. **Read-only by default.** Do not edit product code, change production data, install extensions, alter shared browser configuration, commit, deploy, or submit irreversible actions during an audit. 2. **Use the user's exact target at runtime, but keep the report identity-safe.** Confirm the final URL, dataset/project, selected item, build mode, viewport, browser profile, and important background activity. Store no URL userinfo, query, fragment, token, signature, or private account/project identity in the ledger. Never substitute an easier sample page without labeling it. 3. **Measure before searching broadly.** First reproduce and quantify the user-visible symptom.
