Learn an existing codebase before changing it, then match its conventions, write human-readable self-documenting code without added comments, and reuse what already exists. MUST be used before implementing meaningful changes in an existing project, and when creating any component, route, endpoint, server function, hook, query, validation helper, or utility. Also use when new code could plausibly duplicate an existing implementation.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Project Conventions ## Learn Before Editing Do not start coding from generic framework preferences, personal style, framework defaults, or patterns from unrelated projects. Inspect the project first. Inspect enough of the codebase to answer: - What framework and runtime is this, and how is the repository organized? - Where do similar features live, and how are routes written? - How are components, hooks, and shared abstractions written? - How is server logic, data access, validation, and error handling done? - What naming, folder, import/export, and commenting conventions apply? - What tests exist and how are they structured? The target is that new code looks like it was written by the team that wrote the existing project. ## Conventions Take Priority Project-local conventions are the default implementation standard: export style, function style, route/file/folder naming, early-return style, data-fetching pattern, API response format, database access pattern, validation placement, error handling, state management, component composition, hook naming, server/client separation, logging, styling, and test structure. …

How to install
mdr add frnkgns/gentjinskills/project-conventions@sha256:9c30ff78f99764d5The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261015.47a224b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
