deep-research is agent-read markdown (skill) from nahid-sparktales/agent-dispatcher: Investigate an open question properly — frame it as a decision, work from primary sources, sweep from several angles including the disconfirming one, and stop on a rule rather than on fatigue. Use when a question's answer will change what gets built or bought, when the material is unfamiliar or contested, or when someone asks for a recommendation with evidence behind it. Not for looking up a single fact you can confirm in one place, not for mapping the local codebase, and not for judging one sou.
Indexed from public GitHub and served as immutable, content-addressed versions. Install it pinned to an exact SHA-256 with the mdr CLI, and every file is verified against the hash recorded here before it reaches your agent. The deterministic audit below grades the latest version, and the same file always earns the same grade.

# Deep research
The failure mode is not finding too little. It is finding the first plausible answer, in one kind
of source, and reporting it with a confidence the search never earned.
## When this fires
A question is open, its answer changes a decision, and the evidence is not already in the
conversation. It does not fire for a fact with one authoritative home (the repository, the spec,
the user's own document) — read that and be done.
## Procedure
1. **Write the question as a decision.** What will be done differently depending on the answer,
and what would count as enough evidence to act. A question with no such criterion produces a
survey, and a survey decides nothing.
2. **Set the stopping rule before searching** — a budget in sources or time, plus "new sources stop
changing the answer". Deciding when to stop after you are tired is how research inflates.
3. **Split the question** into sub-questions that can be answered separately, and mark each as a
fact, a number, or a judgement. They need different evidence and they fail differently.
4. **Spend what you already have first.** The repository, the user's supplied material, prior

Pin to a label to follow the author's releases, or to a sha256 to freeze the exact bytes forever. Either way the resolved hash is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install reproduces it on any machine.
