Analyze skill content for optimal placement (Skill vs Passive Context vs Hybrid), compress markdown to pipe-delimited format, and validate compliance against the decision framework. Passive context wins for what the model cannot know (post-cutoff APIs, repo gotchas); pre-trained knowledge belongs in progressive disclosure. Use for "analyze skill placement", "compress markdown", "optimize context", "extract and index", or "audit always-on rules". Do NOT use for gathering knowledge before a task…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Context Optimizer Tooling suite for optimizing Claude Code context placement. Passive context performed better than skills in the Vercel knowledge-injection eval by eliminating retrieval decisions. ## Triggers - `analyze skill placement` - classify and validate content as Skill vs Passive Context - `compress markdown` - reduce context overhead - `optimize context` - lower API costs and improve agent performance; distill a large log or diff once with distill_artifact.py, then read the digest - `extract and index` - split markdown into detail files with compact index - `audit always-on rules` - eval-gated procedure for whether a rule earns its slot, and the doctrine behind it, in [rule-audit-procedure.md](references/rule-audit-procedure.md) and [model-context-doctrine.md](references/model-context-doctrine.md). Also the entry point when a new model ships. **Requires a full rjmurillo/ai-agents checkout**: the procedure runs this repo's eval harness and rule generator, neither of which ships in a plugin install. The doctrine and the instrument write-ups are readable anywhere; only the commands need the checkout ## Process …

How to install
mdr add rjmurillo/ai-agents/context-optimizer@sha256:8073ccf30cff2e1dThe line at the top of this page pins the label v1.2.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
