Use when the user needs to run Anvien CLI commands like analyze/index a repo, check status, clean the index, generate a wiki, or list indexed repos. Examples: "Index this repo", "Reanalyze the codebase", "Generate a wiki".
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Anvien CLI Commands
All commands work via `npx` — no global install required.
## Commands
### analyze — Build or refresh the index
```bash
anvien analyze
```
Run from the project root. This parses all source files, builds the knowledge graph, writes it to `.anvien/`, and generates CLAUDE.md / AGENTS.md context files.

**When to run:** First time in a project, after major code changes, or when `anvien://repo/{name}/context` reports the index is stale.
### status — Check index freshness

anvien status
```
Shows whether the current repo has a Anvien index, when it was last updated, and symbol/relationship counts. Use this to check if re-indexing is needed.
### clean — Delete the index
```bash
anvien clean
```
Deletes the `.anvien/` directory and unregisters the repo from the global registry. Use before re-indexing if the index is corrupt or after removing Anvien from a project.

How to install
mdr add tamnguyendinh/anvien/anvien-cli@sha256:3e343e03c648df26The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260529.973b8f5, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
