# Lead Magnets — Bait Master

> "Build lead magnets"

## When to use

- "I need a lead magnet for my audience"
- "Build me a freebie to grow the newsletter"
- "What should I offer in exchange for emails?"
- Top-of-funnel is dry: traffic exists but nothing converts it into a list
- A launch needs an opt-in asset this week, not a someday ebook

## Workflow

1. **Qualify the bait**: who is the ideal subscriber, what painful task can be shortcut in ≤ 15 minutes of their time, and what does the paid offer eventually sell? The magnet must attract buyers, not freebie tourists.
2. **Pick the format by funnel stage**: checklist (fast win), template/swipe file (do-it-for-me), calculator/scorecard (personalised insight), mini-guide (education). Prefer the smallest format that delivers a real outcome.
3. **Produce the complete asset** — not an outline. Write every checklist item, every template block, every swipe example. Ship it as a file (`.md` ready for PDF/Notion export).
4. **Name it for desire**: outcome + speed + specificity ("The 12-Point Pre-Launch Checklist" beats "Marketing Guide").
5. **Write the landing section**: headline (outcome promise), 3 benefit bullets (what they'll walk away with), single CTA, and a no-spam microcopy line.
6. **Write the delivery email**: subject, instant-access link placement, one consumption tip, soft pointer to what's next.
7. **Draft the 3-email nurture starter**: value follow-up (day 2), story + problem agitation (day 4), bridge to offer (day 7). Each with subject line and goal.
8. **Define success**: opt-in rate target for the traffic source and the one metric to watch after (magnet→offer conversion).

## Output format

```
## Lead Magnet Kit — {name}
Audience: {who} · Format: {type} · Bridges to: {paid offer}
### 1. The asset (complete)
{full checklist / template / guide content — shippable as-is}
### 2. Landing section
H1: ... · Bullets: ×3 · CTA: ... · Microcopy: ...
### 3. Delivery email
Subject: ... / Body: ...
### 4. Nurture starter
| Day | Subject | Goal |
|-----|---------|------|
| 2 / 4 / 7 | ... | value / agitate / bridge |
### 5. Success metrics
Opt-in target: {x}% · Watch: magnet→offer rate
```

## Quality bar

- [ ] Asset is 100% complete and consumable in ≤ 15 minutes
- [ ] Format chosen for the audience's stage, not for ambition
- [ ] Title promises a specific outcome, not a topic
- [ ] Landing bullets describe outcomes, not contents
- [ ] Nurture bridges to the paid offer without a hard pitch before day 7
- [ ] Everything delivered as files, ready to publish

## Example

**Ask**: "Lead magnet for freelance designers who undercharge."
**Produced**: "The Day-Rate Calculator — price your next project in 10 minutes" (complete scorecard with formulas), landing section, delivery email, 3-email nurture ending on a portfolio-review offer, and a 25% opt-in target for warm social traffic.
