Summarize or extract text/transcripts from URLs, podcasts, and local files (great fallback for “transcribe this YouTube/video”).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Summarize Project website: https://summarize.sh Fast CLI to summarize URLs, local files, and YouTube links. This optional CLI is not the default summarization engine. Codex can summarize retrieved text itself. Prefer `--extract-only` for supported URLs; invoking an external model or paid extraction service requires explicit user intent and may use separate API credits, not the Codex subscription. Do not silently fall back to another paid provider when native retrieval fails. ## When to use (trigger phrases) Use this skill immediately when the user asks any of: - “use summarize.sh” - “what’s this link/video about?” - “summarize this URL/article” - “transcribe this YouTube/video” (best-effort transcript extraction; no `yt-dlp` needed) ## Quick start ```bash summarize "https://example.com" --model google/gemini-3-flash-preview summarize "/path/to/file.pdf" --model google/gemini-3-flash-preview summarize "https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ" --youtube auto ``` ## YouTube: summary vs transcript Best-effort transcript (URLs only): ```bash summarize "https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ" --youtube auto --extract-only ``` …

How to install
mdr add zippland/bubblebot/summarize@sha256:9b9125ab4ae5a6abThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261009.8eb2fa0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
