Create, manage, and graduate bundles -- the unit of focused work within a walnut.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Bundle Management
Bundles are self-contained units of work inside a walnut. Any folder with a `context.manifest.yaml` is a bundle.
## Create
```
What's this bundle for?
1. Outcome -- produces something specific (deliverable, has a done state)
2. Evergreen -- accumulates context over time (collection, ongoing)
```
Ask for:
- **Name:** kebab-case (e.g., `website-rebuild`)
- **Goal:** one sentence describing the deliverable or collection
Scaffold:
```bash
BUNDLE_PATH="$WALNUT_PATH/[bundle-name]"
mkdir -p "$BUNDLE_PATH/raw"
```
Write `context.manifest.yaml`:
```yaml
goal: "[goal]"
status: draft
version: v0.1
sensitivity: private
pii: false
created: [today]
updated: [today]
context: |
Bundle created. [Initial context from conversation.]
sources: []
linked_bundles: []
tags: []
squirrels: [[session_id]]
active_sessions:
- session: [session_id]
engine: hermes-agent
started: [now]
working_on: "Initial setup"
```
Write `tasks.json`:
```json
{"tasks": []}
```
## Status Lifecycle
```
draft -> prototype -> published -> done
```
- **draft** -- actively worked on, markdown only
- **prototype** -- has a visual (HTML), maybe shared with 1-2 people

How to install
mdr add alivecontext/alive/alive-bundle@sha256:f835d356e5db9aa8The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
