Use when the user says release this, publish this package, or cut a release for a changesets-based npm package. Not for non-npm packages or releases without a changesets workflow.

## Inputs

- A changesets-based npm package with a release workflow in `.github/workflows/` using `changesets/action`.
- Optional bump level: defaults to `patch`; `minor` or `major` only on explicit user instruction.
- No new changeset is required if one already exists on the default branch and the intent is to watch or merge only.

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260905.1f63894, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
