Continue a task in Claude Code through a portable Director handoff packet. Use when work started in Codex CLI or Grok Build should move to Claude, or when a fresh Claude session needs the current decisions and verification evidence.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Handoff to Claude Code
Use the shared `session-relay` workflow. Claude starts a new native session and
reads the same vendor-neutral packet used by Codex and Grok.

The second command only prints the interactive command. Add `--run` when the
user explicitly wants to launch it, or `--headless` for a one-shot `claude -p`
continuation.
Claude Code's own `--continue` and `--resume` remain the right tools for
resuming a Claude-native history. Use a Director packet when the source is
another CLI, when a concise checkpoint is preferable, or when the workflow may
later move again.
Profiles created with `CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR` can still isolate authorized Claude
accounts, but profile credentials, permissions, plugins, MCP configuration, and
session histories are not copied into the packet.Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add claude-world/director-mode-lite/handoff-claude@sha256:5118ef8e7f843776The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260726.8d0c65f, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
