# OmniMem Development Guide ## What is this? Self-hosted semantic memory MCP server for Claude Code. Provides persistent memory across sessions via four namespaces: episodic (decisions, bugs, patterns), project context (stack, goals, state), knowledge base (RSS articles auto-summarised by Claude Haiku), and preferences (prescriptive rules extracted from conversation, e.g. "always update README after a feature"). v6 adds a fifth, derived namespace: compiled skills (`mem:skill:`) — SKILL.md documents distilled from experience and graveyard memories per domain, gated behind a propose-and-accept write path. v6.6 adds work-type domains on projects: a project declares what kinds of work it contains (`python`, `docker`, `wcag-accessibility`) using the same vocabulary compiled skills use, so `recall(domain_filter="python")` searches every Python project at once. v6.6.1 adds a `licence` field on every memory: its redistribution rights (`own`, `open`, `restricted`, `unknown`), decided at ingest and never derived from ranking. v6.6.2 adds `provenance` (`retrieved`, `concluded`, `asserted`): who is speaking, so a later session can tell evidence from inference. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
