Detect PowerShell Empire framework artifacts in Windows event logs by.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Analyzing PowerShell Empire Artifacts ## Overview PowerShell Empire is a post-exploitation framework consisting of listeners, stagers, and agents. Its artifacts leave detectable traces in Windows event logs, particularly PowerShell Script Block Logging (Event ID 4104) and Module Logging (Event ID 4103). This skill analyzes event logs for Empire's default launcher string (`powershell -noP -sta -w 1 -enc`), Base64 encoded payloads containing `System.Net.WebClient` and `FromBase64String`, known module invocations (Invoke-Mimikatz, Invoke-Kerberoast, Invoke-TokenManipulation), and staging URL patterns. ## When to Use - When investigating security incidents that require analyzing powershell empire artifacts - When building detection rules or threat hunting queries for this domain - When SOC analysts need structured procedures for this analysis type - When validating security monitoring coverage for related attack techniques ## Prerequisites - Python 3.9+ with access to Windows Event Log or exported EVTX files - PowerShell Script Block Logging (Event ID 4104) enabled via Group Policy - Module Logging (Event ID 4103) enabled for comprehensive coverage ## Key Detection Patterns …

How to install
mdr add adriannoes/awesome-agentic-ai/analyzing-powershell-empire-artifacts@sha256:30e3d4497fc0a6d6The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
