Use when reviewing image assets, markup, and CDN or build transforms related to Provide meaningful alt text for images. Check encoded size, rendered size, loading strategy, and above-the-fold impact together.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Provide meaningful alt text for images Approximately 2.2 billion people worldwide have vision impairment. Screen readers read the alt attribute aloud—without meaningful alt text, users who are blind receive no information about image content. Missing alt text also fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.1.1, which is a Level A (minimum) requirement. Search engines also rely on alt text to index image content. ## Quick Reference - Every `<img>` must have an `alt` attribute—omitting it entirely violates WCAG 2.1 SC 1.1.1 - Decorative images use `alt=""` so screen readers ignore them - Alt text should describe the image's *purpose*, not just its appearance - Linked images: alt describes the link destination, not the visual ## Check …

How to install
mdr add thedaviddias/front-end-checklist/alt-text@sha256:d36cef50de67dda2The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260529.7c05904, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
