First-run onboarding for ScoutJobs. Builds the user's profile.md from their CV, LinkedIn text or a short interview, records stated preferences, checks the scoutjobs CLI, and explains the daily loop. Use when the user says "set up scoutjobs", "onboard me", "start my job search", or when ~/.scoutjobs/profile.md is missing or still the empty template.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# ScoutJobs setup Goal: in one conversation, leave the user with a filled `profile.md`, a handful of stated preferences, and a running dashboard. Everything stays on their machine. ## 1. Check the CLI ```bash scoutjobs path || echo "MISSING" ``` - `MISSING` or command not found: tell the user to run `make install` in the scoutjobs repo (or `go install ./cmd/scoutjobs`). Stop until it works. - Otherwise run `scoutjobs init`. It is idempotent and prints which files it created. ## 1b. Country first Ask one question: which country they search from (and live in, if different). Then run `scoutjobs country set <code or name> --json`. It costs no tokens beyond its output: - It writes `country`, `currency` and the country's local job boards to `config.yaml`. - It proposes `locations`, `languages`, `timezone` and `cv_norms` as pending preferences. Show them to the user as a short list. Confirm each one they accept with `scoutjobs pref confirm <key>`, or change it with `pref set ... --source stated`. Reject the rest with `pref reject <key>`. …

How to install
mdr add zoolcoder/scoutjobs/scoutjobs-setup@sha256:fdfc2deba7761797The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261018.4e15855, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
