AKF is the AI native file format, EXIF for AI. Use it before building on any existing file, memory, or downloaded skill to see whether its verification is still valid, and after you create or change a file to leave a ~15-token stamp of what you actually verified. Triggers on "can I trust this file", "is this still valid", "stamp this", provenance, handoff between agents.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# AKF: the AI native file format AKF embeds trust scores, provenance, and evidence into 20+ file formats as ~15 tokens of metadata. A stamp is a note one agent leaves for the next: what was done, what was verified, how much to trust it now. Reading a stamp costs ~15 tokens. Re-verifying the work costs thousands. ## When to use - Before you build on a file another agent or session produced. - After you create or modify a file and have observed something that verifies it. - Before loading a community skill into context. - When saving or reading persistent memory notes. ## Setup ```bash pip install akf # or: pipx install akf akf doctor # diagnoses PATH and install problems ``` ## Procedure ### 1. Check before you build ```bash akf check <file> ``` or, for several files at once, `bash scripts/check-before-build.sh <file>...` (lists which files need re-verification). | Status | Exit | Meaning | What to do | |--------|------|---------|-----------| | `OK` | 0 | Fresh stamp with verified evidence | Build on it. Skip re-verification. | | `LOW` | 1 | Stamped but no test/review evidence, or trust has decayed | Verify the claims you depend on, then restamp. | …

How to install
mdr add hmakt99/akf/akf@sha256:8f5b45bb3b3c8a34The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.6.2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
