Patterns, gotchas, and conventions for threading changes through LemonadeClient, its callers, and the GAIA test suite. Apply when modifying lemonade_client.py, its providers, VLMClient, UI routers, or any file that calls Lemonade HTTP endpoints.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. # Lemonade Client Patterns
## Context
`src/gaia/llm/lemonade_client.py` is GAIA's primary Lemonade HTTP client. Changes to its interface ripple through `LemonadeProvider`, `VLMClient`, Agent UI routers, `_chat_helpers.py`, `server.py`, and `agents/base/agent.py`. The test suite mixes `responses` (for `requests`-based calls) and `mocker.patch` on `httpx` (for async calls).
## Key Patterns
### HTTP call sites — not just `_send_request`
`LemonadeClient` has a central `_send_request`, but several call sites bypass it with a
direct `requests.post` (non-streaming chat/completions, the `responses` API, and the SSE
endpoints), plus `OpenAI(...)` constructor sites. Any change that must affect ALL outbound
calls (e.g. adding an auth header) has to reach every one of them.
**Enumerate them, don't trust a count** — the set grows, and a stale number here is exactly
the miss this section exists to prevent:

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
