Adapt iOS apps for iPhone Duo, Apple's foldable iPhone (announced 2026-09-09, ships 2026-10-23 with iOS 27.1) — resizable layouts, the folding region, vertical toolbars and tab bars, split/arrangement views, and the Xcode 27.1 build requirement. Use this skill whenever the user mentions iPhone Duo, a foldable iPhone, the inner or outer display, the fold or hinge, ArrangementView, ReservedRegion, vertical bars, or asks why their app looks wrong on a foldable. Also use it when the user is making…

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# iPhone Duo Development

iPhone Duo has two displays joined by a center hinge: a compact outer display used when closed, and a 7.6-inch inner display when open. It runs iOS 27.1. Content moves between displays as the device opens, closes, folds partway, and rotates.

The premise of everything here: **this is not a new platform.** It is an iPhone whose window changes size a lot. Apple says so directly — if your app already works on iPad and Mac, or resizes for iPhone Mirroring, you are most of the way there. Almost all of the work is making layouts resize, which is the same work as iPad adaptation.

## When to Activate

- Preparing an existing iOS app for iPhone Duo
- Diagnosing layouts that break on the inner display, in Split View, or when the device folds
- Adopting size classes, `NavigationSplitView`, or resizable layouts on iPhone
- Working with the fold: `ReservedRegion`, `ArrangementView`, hinge state
- Adapting toolbars and tab bars that the system moves to the side
- Planning a release or featuring nomination timed to the Duo launch

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add capsrock/iphone-duo-skill/iphone-duo-development@sha256:1cbe578bf506341b

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261018.bd59a29, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
