Unified NSF proposal requirements, question-answering, and preflight checking for a single proposal repository. Use when a user has an NSF solicitation PDF/text and needs to (1) ingest and normalize proposal requirements, (2) ask drafting-time questions such as "do we need X?" or "where does this go?", or (3) run a pre-submission gap check against the current proposal files.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# NSF Proposal Guardrail
## Overview
Use this skill as the single entry point for NSF proposal compliance work
inside one proposal repository.
This skill is NSF-first. If the user provides another sponsor's governing call
text, FAQ, or related requirements under `<proposal-dir>/context/solicitation/`,
you can still use the same ingest and QA workflow, but treat the supplied call
materials as authoritative over generic NSF expectations.
The skill has three operating modes:
1. `ingest`: parse the solicitation and build a requirements baseline
2. `qa`: answer "is this required?" during drafting
3. `preflight`: check what is missing or risky before submission
Keep the raw solicitation inputs in
`<proposal-dir>/context/solicitation/` and write durable guardrail artifacts
under `<proposal-dir>/guardrail/`. Reserve `<proposal-dir>/out/` for temporary
build or compile outputs.
In a multi-proposal repo, use `<proposal-dir>` to mean one concrete proposal
workspace such as `proposals/nsf-25-533-fairos`.
## Repository Convention
For one proposal workspace, prefer this layout:
```text
<proposal-dir>/
context/
solicitation/
solicitation.pdf
solicitation.txt
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add yzhao062/agent-config/nsf-proposal-guardrail@sha256:5a85cc6e58ac8afbThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260406.2404ea5, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
