Makes data-backed UI work outside its original page. Use when callers need to supply data or fetch by ID, or reuse a feature in another shell without breaking queries, mutations, or drafts. Does not cover general API customization.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# composing data-driven UI
let callers bring data—or just an ID—and choose where the feature goes.
this skill covers fetching, state, effects, and what belongs to the page or overlay around a feature. the types below make those choices explicit. designing overloads and customization APIs is a separate job.
## one feature, two ways to supply data

the first caller wants to embed a feature, not learn its query cache. the second already has the data. support both with the same presentation. supplied query data, filtered subsets, drafts, and fixtures must not trigger another fetch.
**data is part of composition.** it belongs in the contract, not hidden in the surrounding route. these TSX examples illustrate the pattern; use the codebase's primitives.
## let the caller choose the shell
either way of supplying data should work in either place:

How to install
mdr add bdsqqq/dots/composing-data-driven-ui@sha256:b3076b37554e8aa0The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260919.3a1ac1f, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
