memory-custodian SKILL.md skillA

memory-custodian from waittim/memorycustodian is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Install it, pinned
mdr add waittim/memorycustodian/memory-custodian@git:20260922.f549d25

Pins git:20260922.f549d25 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Use when a project contains docs/memory/, or when the user asks to remember, retrieve, update, compact, forget, or audit project memory. MemoryCustodian manages local plain-text project memory with minimal context loading.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# MemoryCustodian

This skill describes package 0.12.0 / Protocol 0.8. Protocol 0.8 keeps the
Protocol 0.7 routing and identity rules while adding Entry schema 3,
transaction schema 1, audit schema 1, output schema 1, and the versioned
ErasureScope schema 1. It is a pre-1.0 reliability release, not a promise of
long-term 1.x compatibility or complete erasure.

Forgetting is not a guarantee of erasure from Git history or previously
distributed copies; it controls only what future agents can access through
MemoryCustodian-managed scope.

MemoryCustodian stores durable project memory as local, human-readable Markdown files under `docs/memory/`.

Use it to:
- load the minimum relevant project memory for the current task
- update project memory after meaningful decisions
- compact unprocessed memory candidates
- forget or tombstone memory the user no longer wants used
- keep platform entry files such as `AGENTS.md`, `CLAUDE.md`, and `GEMINI.md` short

## Hard Gate

In a project that contains MemoryCustodian memory, do not start substantial planning, implementation, debugging, or review until startup loading is complete:

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add waittim/memorycustodian/memory-custodian@sha256:8ad4b5368ad97996

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260922.f549d25, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
