structural-search SKILL.md skillA
This file is byte-identical to the first copy the registry indexed. Same content hash, so the same checks give both the same grade.
structural-search from 0xdarkmatter/claude-mods is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add 0xdarkmatter/claude-mods/structural-search@git:20260705.eeb36d0Pins git:20260705.eeb36d0 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Search code by AST structure using ast-grep. Find semantic patterns like function calls, imports, class definitions instead of text patterns. Triggers on: find all calls to X, search for pattern, refactor usages, find where function is used, structural search, ast-grep, sg.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Structural Search
Search code by its abstract syntax tree (AST) structure. Finds semantic patterns that regex cannot match reliably.
## Tools
| Tool | Command | Use For |
|------|---------|---------|
| ast-grep | `sg -p 'pattern'` | AST-aware code search |
## Pattern Syntax
| Pattern | Matches | Example |
|---------|---------|---------|
| `$NAME` | Named identifier | `function $NAME() {}` |
| `$_` | Any single node | `console.log($_)` |
| `$$$` | Zero or more nodes | `function $_($$$) {}` |
## Top 10 Essential Patterns
```bash
# 1. Find console.log calls
sg -p 'console.log($_)'
# 2. Find React hooks
sg -p 'const [$_, $_] = useState($_)'
sg -p 'useEffect($_, [$$$])'
# 3. Find function definitions
sg -p 'function $NAME($$$) { $$$ }'
sg -p 'def $NAME($$$): $$$' --lang python
# 4. Find imports
sg -p 'import $_ from "$_"'
sg -p 'from $_ import $_' --lang python
# 5. Find async patterns
sg -p 'await $_'
sg -p 'async function $NAME($$$) { $$$ }'
# 6. Find error handling
sg -p 'try { $$$ } catch ($_) { $$$ }'
sg -p 'if err != nil { $$$ }' --lang go
# 7. Find potential issues
sg -p '$_ == $_' # == instead of ===
sg -p 'eval($_)' # Security risk
How to install
mdr add 0xdarkmatter/claude-mods/structural-search@sha256:d38682316d95f34bThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260705.eeb36d0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
