Review and rewrite a draft message for clarity, tone, action, context, length, and relationship impact.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# Communication Review

Review draft messages before sending. The goal: clear, kind, reader-shaped, and only as long as needed. Output a revised version + 2–3 specific notes.

## Workflow

### 0. Calibrate tone

Infer the channel, relationship, stakes, and communication goal before rewriting. Default to **Warm direct**: clear and concise, but still human.

Use **Empathetic** when the message involves feedback, disagreement, apology, performance, conflict, disappointment, power dynamics, or anything that could land as cold or dismissive.

Use the structured question tool only when tone or stakes are ambiguous enough that guessing would materially change the rewrite. Ask one question:

> What tone should this land with?

Options:

| Tone mode | Use when |
|---|---|
| Warm direct | Default for most peer/team messages: clear, polite, not over-softened |
| Empathetic | Sensitive, relational, conflict, feedback, apology, or high-emotion messages |
| Executive concise | Decision-oriented updates for busy readers who need the point fast |
| Detailed but readable | The reader needs context, but the message should still avoid becoming a wall |

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add kriscard/skills/check-communication@sha256:de3f24a88e54b4d3

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261007.7f41b57, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
