Find what makes AI-built UI look generic, fix it once approved. Use when the user says "this looks AI-generated", "make it less generic" or "polish this UI".

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# Unugly

Make AI-generated UI look intentional. Audit it, propose changes with reasons, wait for a yes,
then write them on the project's own tokens. Work inside the existing project, never around it.

## The rules underneath

1. **No code changes without approval.** Show the reasoning and the diff first. Write only after
   the user says yes.
2. **Load the design context before any proposal.** Without it, every suggestion is generic.
3. **Respect the existing system.** Inherit the palette, spacing scale, type, components and tone.
   Never fight the codebase.
4. **Few, specific findings beat a long list.** Name the element, the problem and the fix.

## Pick the job

| The user asks for | Do |
| --- | --- |
| "What's wrong with this page?" | Audit (step 4) |
| A scored, structured review | Critique (step 5) |
| "Make this bolder / quieter / cleaner…" | Variants with a verb (steps 6 and 7) |
| Better words | Rewrite (step 8) |
| A new section (hero, pricing, features…) | Insert a block (step 9) |
| "Are we on our own system?" | Drift check (step 10) |

Every job ends at the same gate: propose, wait, write, verify (steps 11 and 12).

## Steps

### 1. Load the design context once

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add tonygorb/skills/unugly@sha256:0fc23f5bc2e2dbe6

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261013.8f735ab, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
