# Multi-state payroll tax workpapers ## Inputs Monthly taxable wages by state or territory for the year (including contractor and other deemed wages already characterised), the group structure and any grouping decisions or exclusion orders, payroll tax registrations and returns lodged in each jurisdiction, the designated group employer, days employed in each jurisdiction if part-year, and any regional or other concession claimed. ## Workflow 1. Tie taxable wages by jurisdiction to the payroll and general ledger, and total Australian wages for the employer or group. Contractor characterisation belongs to the `payroll-tax-contractors` skill; treat unresolved characterisation as `UNVERIFIED` here. 2. For each jurisdiction, read that revenue office's current page for the year's threshold or deduction, how it phases out, the rate or rate bands, and any surcharge or levy. Record the page and its date for each. Do not assume two jurisdictions share a rule. 3. Registration test: compare total Australian wages (group wages where grouped) with each jurisdiction's registration threshold, monthly and annually, and list any jurisdiction where registration looks required but is missing. …
