Forge's universal task router. Evaluates any task against ALL available Forge resources — skills, subagents, external MCP tools, web access, the Lattice code graph — decomposes it, and routes each part through the best resource(s) in the right order. The default entry point for complex, ambiguous, or multi-step work.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Orchestrate — Forge's Universal Router A built-in Forge feature. Given any task, it discovers what Forge can do **right now**, decomposes the task, and routes each subtask through the best skill(s), subagent(s), and tool(s) — sequentially where dependent, in parallel where independent. **Never rely on a hardcoded list.** Discover resources fresh every time so newly added skills, MCP servers, and tools are picked up automatically. --- ## Step 1 — Understand the task - What is the **goal**? What is the **current state**? What are the **constraints**? - Is it **design**, **implementation**, or **mixed**? If genuinely ambiguous, ask one clarifying question. Otherwise proceed. --- ## Step 2 — Discover Forge's resources (at runtime) - **Skills** — call the `use_skill` tool. Its description lists every skill in Forge's library by name; that list is authoritative. Do NOT route on a name alone — read the description before choosing. Do NOT read the filesystem to find skills. - **Subagents** — the `spawn_agents` tool fans work out to mesh-routed child agents. Use it for long, parallel, or isolation-worthy subtasks. …

How to install
mdr add adulari/forge/orchestrate@sha256:d747bd86672728e4The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261014.a6c7239, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
