Search Censys for internet-exposed hosts, certificates, and services — host lookups, queries, and certificate analysis.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Censys — Internet Asset Discovery
Censys continuously scans the public internet and indexes detailed metadata about every reachable host: open ports, running services, TLS certificates, and BGP routing information. Complementary to Shodan with different scanner vantage points and richer certificate data.
**Requires:** `CENSYS_API_ID` and `CENSYS_API_SECRET` — free tier at https://search.censys.io/register (0.4 req/sec, 250 queries/month).
## When to Use
- Look up what Censys sees on a specific IP address
- Discover internet-exposed assets for a given organisation or ASN
- Investigate TLS certificates — find all hosts sharing a certificate or subject
- Security audit: verify which services are visible from the public internet
- User asks "what does Censys show for IP X", "find hosts with this certificate", "look up ASN exposure"

How to install
mdr add taracodlabs/aiden/censys@sha256:ed48402e83a63a0aThe line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
