## When to Use
- The user describes a task, workflow, or problem they want an AI agent to handle reliably.
- The user asks for a skill, SKILL.md, or agent capability to be created from a description.
- The user wants to encode domain knowledge, team conventions, or procedural expertise into a reusable agent skill.
## When NOT to Use
- The user is editing, reviewing, or debugging an existing SKILL.md — this skill generates new skills, it does not modify existing ones.
- The user wants a non-skill artifact (a report, a script, a document, a presentation) — this skill only produces SKILL.md files and their scaffold.
- The user has already fully specified the skill and just needs formatting — this skill does elicitation and architecture, not just syntax.
## Prerequisites
- A workspace where files can be written (local directory or skills.md runtime).
- The user must be available to answer up to 2 clarifying questions (Phase 0).

The line at the top of this page pins the label v0.1.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
