Invoked helper skill for higher-risk API contract decisions, usually called from /research or /write-a-prd. Use when the unresolved question is API shape, compatibility, auth, webhook design, or paradigm choice. Not a default top-level workflow step or a substitute for ordinary implementation work.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# API Design Review Use this skill when API complexity is high enough that the normal `/research` or `/write-a-prd` flow needs a focused contract review. This is an invoked skill, not a default pipeline step. It exists to add rigor only when the cost of an API mistake is unusually high. ## Invocation Position This is an invoked helper skill. It normally runs from `/research` or `/write-a-prd` rather than as the first entry point for a feature. Use it when the unresolved question is the API contract itself: paradigm choice, consumer-facing shape, compatibility posture, or auth and webhook model. Do not use it for ordinary backend implementation work or for non-API module design questions that belong in `/design-an-interface`. ## Invoke This Skill When Invoke `/api-design-review` only if at least one of these is true: - a new external or partner-facing API is being introduced - an existing request or response contract is changing - OAuth, scopes, token model, or webhook verification is involved - there is real uncertainty about paradigm selection (REST, RPC, GraphQL, WebHooks, WebSockets) …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
