This skill should be used when the user asks to "find codex session", "codex session context", "lookup codex session", "show codex history", "codex session summary", or provides a Codex session UUID. Finds and summarizes OpenAI Codex session files from ~/.codex/sessions/.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Codex Session Lookup
Retrieve context from Codex CLI session history stored at `~/.codex/sessions/`.
## Session Structure

Each JSONL file contains:
- `session_meta`: id, cwd, model_provider, cli_version, base_instructions, git info
- `event_msg` (agent_message): final agent output
- `response_item` (type=reasoning): reasoning blocks — plaintext in `summary[].text`; `encrypted_content` is opaque
- `response_item`: user prompts, tool calls (function/custom/search/image)
- `turn_context`: per-turn metadata (model, effort, sandbox)
## Workflow
### 1. Identify Session
Determine what the user wants to find:
- Partial or full UUID — direct lookup.
- "recent" / "latest" — show recent sessions.
- Topic or keyword — search via grep across sessions.
### 2. Execute Extraction
Use the helper script:

How to install
mdr add jongwony/cc-plugin/codex-plus-session@sha256:0e0982d3917f771dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260719.744fc68, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
