Use when deciding WHETHER a candidate architectural choice deserves an architecture decision record, before any record is drafted: a story enters DESIGN with a list of candidate choices, a reviewer flags ADR inflation, or someone asks "should I write an ADR for X?", "how many ADRs does this story need?", "is this ADR-worthy?", "this feels like too many ADRs", "disambiguate baseline from decision". Runs a baseline-vs-decision gate over each candidate and returns ELIGIBLE or NOT ELIGIBLE with…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# ADR Eligibility Gate ## Overview This skill operationalizes the "When NOT to write an ADR" section of the `architecture-decisions` skill as a **pre-draft gate**. Load it when considering whether a candidate architectural choice warrants an ADR, before writing any ADR body. **Core question:** Does this choice ratify a genuine open question with real trade-offs, or does it re-declare project baseline / existing skill-enforced convention? **When to activate:** - DESIGN phase begins for a story - Architect considers documenting a choice - Reviewer flags `ADR-INFLATION` (multiple ADRs for a story where 0-1 expected) - User asks "should I write an ADR for X?" or "how many ADRs does this need?" --- ## The 5-Question Checklist For each candidate choice, answer these questions in order. The FIRST `YES` determines the verdict. ### Q1: Is this choice already enforced by a project skill or automated architecture test? **Examples of baseline (NOT ADR-worthy):** - "Pure domain service with no IO" → Clean Architecture layering, enforced by the `clean-architecture-*` skill and architecture tests - "CQS at method level" (one handler per command/query) → `clean-architecture-*` skill …

How to install
mdr add sebastiendegodez/skraft-plugin/adr-eligibility-gate@sha256:71d6cc8b60963b87The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261006.c95ab93, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
