Launch a Claude task on a remote kube-coder workspace, check task status, or attach to a running session. Use when the user wants to send work to a remote workspace pod.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Remote Task Skill
Launch Claude tasks on remote kube-coder workspace pods, check their status, or view output.
## Prerequisites
This skill requires:
1. `kubectl` access to the cluster
2. A running workspace pod (deployed via `make deploy-<user>`)
3. An API token generated on the pod
## How It Works
The workspace pod runs a Python HTTP server on port 6080 that exposes a Claude Task API. Tasks launch as interactive tmux sessions running `claude` — users can attach to approve permissions and provide input.
## Commands
Based on `$ARGUMENTS`, perform ONE of the following:
### 1. If `$ARGUMENTS` is "status" — List all tasks
```bash
# Port-forward if needed
kubectl port-forward -n coder svc/ws-imran 6080:6080 &
PF_PID=$!
sleep 2
TOKEN=$(kubectl exec -n coder $(kubectl get pods -n coder -l app=ws-imran -o jsonpath='{.items[0].metadata.name}') -c ide -- cat /home/dev/.claude-tasks/.api-token 2>/dev/null)
curl -s "http://localhost:6080/api/claude/tasks" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" | python3 -m json.tool
kill $PF_PID 2>/dev/null
```
Display the results as a formatted table showing: task_id, status, prompt (truncated), and created_at (as relative time).

How to install
mdr add imran31415/kube-coder/remote-task@sha256:a421c8ea078162dfThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260214.18924da, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
