# Deceased estate tax workpapers ## Inputs Date-of-death evidence, authority of the legal personal representative, will and administration records, pre-death and post-death income records, asset histories, valuations, liabilities and distribution records. ## Workflow 1. Confirm the preparer's authority and split the timeline into the deceased person's return periods and the estate's administration periods. 2. Reconcile receipts to the period and entity to which they belong under verified authority; cash receipt after death alone does not decide the tax treatment. 3. Build estate income, expenses, assets and liabilities schedules. Record the administration stage and beneficiary entitlements supported by the will and administration evidence. 4. Review inherited asset cost-base requirements and proposed disposals using current CGT guidance. Refer superannuation death benefits, disputes and unclear entitlements to the appropriate qualified reviewer. ## Hand-off and checks Separate final-return and estate packs, with a reconciliation of receipts and distributions and an unresolved-authority list. Do not distribute assets or conclude the estate can be wound up. …
