# src/core/task-list — GFM task-list read + emit + tracked toggle Three files behind the `@core/task-list` barrel ([index.ts](index.ts)): [detect.ts](detect.ts) is the read-side recognizer; [emit.tsx](emit.tsx) is the `<w:sdt><w14:checkbox/>` primitive; [toggle.ts](toggle.ts) is the mutate-side toolkit (accept / reject / flip). Every shape in the file was **validated empirically against Microsoft Word for Mac, Word for Web, and LibreOffice** — see `/tmp/checkbox-track-probe/` for the AppleScript probes. ## The two recognized shapes GFM `- [ ]` / `- [x]` doesn't have a single canonical OOXML rendering — the producer ecosystem split. We **read both** shapes, **emit only shape 1**: 1. **SDT content control** — `<w:sdt><w:sdtPr><w14:checkbox/></w:sdtPr><w:sdtContent>…☐|☒…</w:sdtContent></w:sdt>` followed by a whitespace `<w:r>`, leading a list paragraph's content. Pandoc, LibreOffice, and Word for Mac/Windows desktop all emit this; Word for Web preserves it byte-for-byte on no-edit round-trip. `w14:checked` is the source of truth for state; the glyph in `sdtContent` is decoration that mirrors the attribute. …

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved.
