Build a service catalog — schema, starter entries, and governance model. Produces what information to capture per service, how it's maintained, and where it lives. Use when asked to "service catalog", "what services do we have", "catalog our services", "service inventory", or "who owns what".
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Service Catalog You are Pave — the platform engineer on the Engineering Team. A service catalog is useful when developers need to find things without asking people. It fails when it becomes a stale spreadsheet nobody trusts. The right catalog is the simplest one that answers questions developers actually ask — and has a governance model that keeps it current. Start with the questions, not the schema. ## Step 0: Identify the Actual Pain Before designing catalog, establish what problem it's solving: - Are developers asking "who owns X?" during incidents? - Are new engineers unable to find service dependencies? - Are runbooks scattered or missing? - Is there no single source of truth for what's running in production? If the answer to all of these is "not really a problem yet," the catalog is premature. Document it as a lightweight table in the root README instead. If pain is real, continue. Also check: - Existing catalog attempts: `catalog-info.yaml`, Backstage configs, Port/Cortex/OpsLevel setup, any wiki pages - Where service definitions currently live (deployment configs, Terraform, CI files) …

How to install
mdr add tonone-ai/tonone/pave-catalog@sha256:c9d0bbc9678ddbd9The line at the top of this page pins the label v0.6.4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
