commit-detection SKILL.md skillA
This file is byte-identical to the first copy the registry indexed. Same content hash, so the same checks give both the same grade.
commit-detection from fusengine/claude-plugins is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add fusengine/claude-plugins/commit-detection@git:20260729.3b91eedPins git:20260729.3b91eed in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Detects optimal commit type from git changes. Use when analyzing commits, determining commit type, or before committing.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
<objective>
Detects the optimal conventional commit type (feat/fix/docs/style/refactor/perf/test/build/ci/chore) from staged and unstaged git changes, using file-pattern categorization (docs/test/config/ci/build/src) plus diff-keyword heuristics ("fix", "bug", "optimize", etc.), and derives a scope suggestion from the primary changed directory (e.g. `src/api/auth.ts` → `auth`). Covers the full detection algorithm, the rule cascade, scope extraction, and worked examples. Does not perform the commit itself — routes to the matching `/commit-pro:<type>` command, or to the `commit` skill for full smart analysis when no rule matches cleanly.
</objective>
# Commit Type Detection Skill
Expert knowledge for detecting the optimal conventional commit type.
## Detection Algorithm
### Step 1: Gather Data
```bash
# Get modified files
git diff --name-only
git diff --staged --name-only
# Get change statistics
git diff --stat
git diff --staged --stat
# Check for keywords in diff
git diff | grep -i "fix\|bug\|error" | head -5
```
### Step 2: Categorize Files
| Category | File Patterns |
|----------|---------------|
| docs | `*.md`, `*.txt`, `*.rst`, `README*`, `CHANGELOG*` |
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add fusengine/claude-plugins/commit-detection@sha256:6dd74db4fa3e954dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260729.3b91eed, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
