Generate label matchers, line filters, log aggregations, and metric queries in LogQL (Loki Query Language) following current standards and conventions. Use this skill when creating new LogQL queries, implementing log analysis dashboards, alerting rules, or troubleshooting with Loki.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# LogQL Query Generator ## Mindset LogQL queries are cheap to write and expensive to run wrong. A query that reads fine in isolation can take down a Loki cluster in production because stream selectors and filter ordering determine how much raw data gets scanned before anything is discarded — the query planner does not reorder your pipeline for you. Treat query construction as a performance decision first and a syntax exercise second: every stage you add either narrows the data Loki has to touch or forces it to touch more of it. **When to Use**: creating new LogQL queries, log-filter or metric queries for dashboards, Loki alerting rules, or troubleshooting a production Loki instance where filter ordering or label cardinality is suspected as the cause of slow or timing-out queries. **When NOT to Use**: writing PromQL for a Prometheus-native metric (LogQL only applies to Loki log streams, not scraped metrics), or when the user already has a working, performant query and only wants a syntax explanation — in that case answer directly rather than running the full planning workflow. ## Interactive Query Planning Workflow …

How to install
mdr add pantheon-org/tekhne/logql-generator@sha256:721eff7e019f6fc7The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260923.7852cb4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
