Plan and document handoffs, parent lane contracts, and parallel batch contracts between specialized AI agents (foreman, workers, reviewers). Use for multi-agent workflows, subagents, original goal preservation, native gates, claim ceilings, terminal states, baton passes, or guild-style agent coordination.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Multi-agent handoff
Structure work so multiple agents can execute sequentially without losing context.
## When to use
- Splitting a large task across explorer, implementer, and reviewer agents
- Foreman/worker or parent/subagent patterns
- Need a written baton between chat sessions or tools
## One obligation
Name one outcome. After two attempts on the same owner with no new evidence, hand off with what was tried, the evidence, and the non-claims. Adjacent discoveries are part of the baton, not permission for the sender to absorb the next problem. MoE findings do not authorize writes.
A handoff does not create an owner. Skill Steward does not schedule claims or presence. Do not add more baton fields. See [work discipline](../../docs/core/work-discipline.mdx).

How to install
mdr add arenukvern/skill_steward/multi-agent-handoff@sha256:d3452ade4277ccb4The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
