llm-application-engineering SKILL.md skillA
llm-application-engineering from fabiandistler/agents is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add fabiandistler/agents/llm-application-engineering@v1.2Pins v1.2 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Engineers LLM applications: fixing bad output (prompting, RAG, finetuning), evals and LLM judges, agents and tools, guardrails, and production monitoring. Use when building or debugging an app on top of an LLM.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# LLM Application Engineering ## When to use Whenever a foundation model's output is wrong and the fix (prompting, retrieval, or finetuning) is unclear; whenever an LLM app's architecture (context, guardrails, routing, caching, agents) is being designed or reviewed; whenever production evaluation metrics or user-feedback signals need defining; or whenever the question is how to implement prompting and prompt management, an evaluation harness or LLM judge, guardrails and security gating, finetuning (LoRA, hyperparameters), or training-data preparation. Draws on Chip Huyen's *AI Engineering* and bundles the adaptation ladder, the architecture build sequence, production monitoring, and an operational conventions sheet. When the application is an **agent** — tool loops, orchestration topologies, multi-agent decomposition, autonomy levels — pair that sheet with [`references/agent-engineering-conventions.md`](references/agent-engineering-conventions.md), its agent-specific companion (distilled from Albada, *Building Applications with AI Agents*). It carries the tool-design, orchestration, agent-evaluation, agent-memory-scoping, and autonomy-UX rules the general sheet does not, and …

How to install
mdr add fabiandistler/agents/llm-application-engineering@sha256:f1d6b95d15685184The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
