OWASP Top 10 with code examples, SAST/DAST tools, dependency scanning, CSP headers, and input validation patterns. Use when hardening applications, reviewing security posture, or implementing defensive coding practices.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

## OWASP Top 10 (2021) with Code Examples
### A01: Broken Access Control
```typescript
// BAD - No authorization check
app.get('/api/users/:id', async (req, res) => {
const user = await db.user.findUnique({ where: { id: req.params.id } });
res.json(user);
});
// GOOD - Verify ownership or role
app.get('/api/users/:id', authenticate, async (req, res) => {
if (req.user.id !== req.params.id && req.user.role !== 'ADMIN') {
return res.status(403).json({ error: 'Forbidden' });
}
const user = await db.user.findUnique({ where: { id: req.params.id } });
res.json(user);
});
```
### A02: Cryptographic Failures
```typescript
// BAD - Weak hashing
import crypto from 'crypto';
const hash = crypto.createHash('md5').update(password).digest('hex');
// GOOD - Use bcrypt with proper rounds
import bcrypt from 'bcrypt';
const hash = await bcrypt.hash(password, 12);
const isValid = await bcrypt.compare(password, hash);
```
### A03: Injection
```typescript
// BAD - SQL injection
const query = `SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = '${email}'`;
How to install
mdr add travisjneuman/.claude/application-security@sha256:dabf2942141b39d9The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260228.62823bf, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
