Set up GitHub authentication via gh CLI, SSH keys, and HTTPS personal access tokens.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# GitHub Authentication Setup Configure GitHub authentication for `git` and `gh` CLI operations using the GitHub CLI (`gh`), SSH keys, or HTTPS personal access tokens (PATs). ## When to Use - User needs to authenticate with GitHub from a new machine - User is getting `Permission denied (publickey)` or `Authentication failed` errors - User wants to switch from HTTPS to SSH authentication - User wants to create or rotate a personal access token - User wants to verify their current GitHub credentials are working ## How to Use ### 1. Authenticate with gh CLI (recommended) ```powershell # Interactive login — opens browser for OAuth gh auth login # Choose: GitHub.com → HTTPS → Authenticate with browser # Or choose SSH if preferred # Verify authentication gh auth status ``` ### 2. Create an SSH key ```powershell # Generate Ed25519 key (modern, secure) ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "your-email@example.com" -f "$env:USERPROFILE\.ssh\github_ed25519" # Start ssh-agent and add key Start-Service ssh-agent ssh-add "$env:USERPROFILE\.ssh\github_ed25519" # Display public key to copy to GitHub Get-Content "$env:USERPROFILE\.ssh\github_ed25519.pub" ``` …

How to install
mdr add taracodlabs/aiden/github-auth@sha256:2b070e11672a3e3eThe line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
