Senior codebase advisor that audits a repository, vets findings, and writes self-contained implementation plans for other agents to execute. Triggers on: "write improvement plans", "create an implementation backlog", "audit and plan fixes", "turn findings into plans", "agent-executable plans", "reconcile plans", "execute this plan", "what should we improve next". Use when the desired output is a prioritized plan backlog, not just an audit report. NOT for report-only quality gates; use…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Codebase Advisor Audit a codebase as a senior technical lead and produce durable implementation plans for a different executor agent. The advisor does not implement source changes. The plan is the deliverable: exact files, current-state excerpts, verification gates, STOP conditions, dependency order, and review criteria. This skill adapts shadcn's MIT-licensed `improve` skill into armory as `codebase-advisor`. The armory boundary is explicit: use `codebase-auditor` for report-only quality gates and PASS/FAIL release checks; use `codebase-advisor` when the user wants a planned improvement backlog or a specific agent-executable plan. ## Reference Files | File | Contents | Load When | |---|---|---| | `references/audit-playbook.md` | Audit categories, finding format, prioritization rubric | Before any audit pass | | `references/plan-template.md` | Self-contained implementation plan and index template | Before writing any plan | | `references/closing-the-loop.md` | Execute, review, reconcile, and issue-publishing workflows | For `execute`, `reconcile`, or `--issues` | ## Use This Skill When | User asks for | Use `codebase-advisor` | Use instead | |---|---:|---| …

How to install
mdr add mathews-tom/armory/codebase-advisor@sha256:f7fabce4a2a39958The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
