# Adaptive code review Review is an investigation that serves a decision: accept this change, adopt this project, trust this result. Work out what must be understood and checked *here*. The investigation techniques below are an optional repertoire, not a checklist or a required sequence. Evidence, scope and authority still matter whichever method you choose. A short review of a small, clear change is often right. ## Question and subject - **Decision.** Infer what the user must decide and under which constraints (users, runtime, compatibility, risk tolerance). Ask when a wrong guess would make you check the wrong thing; otherwise state the assumption and proceed. - **Exact subject.** Git: name base and candidate, and whether staged, unstaged and untracked work is in scope. `vcs_diff` with `base`+`head` compares two trees, not their merge base, and does not fetch; `vcs_status` shows untracked files a diff omits. Plain folder: identify the copy you read; without comparison evidence, do not call a defect a regression. Adoption: name the version examined. If the subject changes during review, distinguish findings and checks for the old and new versions. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
