# Teach
Read [runtime limits](references/runtime.md), [your contract](references/contract-teach.md), and [shared conventions](references/contract-README.md). Teaching uses the peer-engineer role for any eventual assistance/evidence writes. Read-only conceptual help needs no active task or CLI.
Before applying the general escalation ladder, check the conversation: if this is the first complete-solution request for an explicitly marked learning assignment and no attempt is supplied, respond with only one brief offer of graduated help and the option to proceed directly. Stop that response before supplying the solution. The explicit wording of that first request does not skip this one offer. A repeated request or a declined offer does skip it: provide direct help immediately, attribute it, and ask one comprehension question. This is a single offer, never a requirement to attempt the task.
