# AGENTS.md This file provides guidance to OpenAI Codex when working in this repository. ## What this is A package manager for AI coding-agent skills—npm/Homebrew, but the install target is multiple heterogeneous coding agents (Claude Code, Codex) rather than one runtime. That single fact drives the whole architecture. Deep background lives in [ARCHITECTURE.md](ARCHITECTURE.md) (how the code is shaped and why) and [DESIGN.md](DESIGN.md) (the artefacts: manifest, registry protocol, adapter contract, CLI UX). This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
