Build an EPUB with Python ebooklib without producing empty chapters; use whenever creating .epub files.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Building EPUBs with ebooklib
- Run with `/usr/bin/python3` if the default python lacks ebooklib.
- Set chapter content as BYTES with no XML declaration: `ch.content = html.encode("utf-8")`, where `html` starts with `<html ...>` and NOT `<?xml ...?>`. A str starting with `<?xml` silently serializes as an empty chapter.
- Escape text (`html.escape`) and wrap paragraphs in `<p>`.
- Add every chapter to `book.spine` and a `epub.EpubNcx()` / `epub.EpubNav()`.
- Right after `epub.write_epub`, verify once: unzip the file, check each chapter xhtml is larger than ~500 bytes. Fix at once if not, then stop; do not re-verify repeatedly.Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
