Gate for every test being written or changed — four questions it must answer, the junk-pattern check, red-before-green for regression tests, and extend-don't-restructure for the tests already there. Use when adding tests for new code or an experimental condition, writing a regression test for a bug fix, or changing an existing test's assertions. Runs silently; speaks only for a test that fails the gate or for concerns about the surrounding tests, which it reports and notes rather than fixes.…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# /ws:test-gate — a test lands only if it earns its place
Applies while tests are being written. The bar itself — the value bar, the junk
patterns, the retention bar, and where concerns are noted — lives in
`${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/references/test-value.md`; read it before the first test of the session.
The gate is **silent**. A test that passes it gets nothing beyond the task's
normal summary. Speak only when a test fails the gate, or when the survey in
step 5 finds a concern.
## 1. Four questions
Before adding a test, answer four. A missing answer means the test is not added
yet:
1. What observable behaviour, invariant, or independent contract does it
protect?
2. What credible regression makes it fail?
3. Why does existing coverage not already catch that failure? Each contract has
one primary test owner at the strongest boundary; another layer needs its own
distinct risk, such as a transport or lifecycle failure the owner cannot
reach. Prefer a new row in an existing parametrised table, or an existing
fixture reused as it is, over a near-duplicate test.

How to install
mdr add emaballarin/ccplugins/test-gate@sha256:cb635cf8a7ff3824The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261003.feb6317, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
